Hunting

J. Michael’s Ranch is a low fence ranch with nearly 2 sq. miles of open country to hunt a variety of game on. From established blinds and feeders with easy road access to a 2,000 sq. ft. hunter’s quarters with a full bathroom, J. Michael’s offers a true plug and play experience to its hunters.

At a Glance

J. Micheal’s Ranch offers a hunt for every kind of hunter.

J. Michael’s Ranch can be subdivided into three areas. The original ranch which contains 844 acres from the Cabin to the west border. Purple Sage in the middle with roughly 190 acres between the cabin and the Sanderson Canyon and finally Old Sage with 200 acres from the Sanderson Canyon to the east border.

Custom Deer Blinds

Over the years we have built our own hunting blinds across the ranch. We now have 5 blinds in place with plans to add more in the future. From the ground to 10 ft. in the air each blind was built for its location. All blinds fit two people comfortably with closeable windows, a shelf for gear and stairs with rails for raised blinds.

All blinds were refurbished in 2022 with new floors, walls, larger windows and improved stairs.

Year-Round Feeding

J. Michael’s feeds corn, alfalfa, and cotton seed year-round at all hunting locations and we are one of a few ranches in the area with water troughs for animals. This keeps the deer consistently visiting our feeders and anchored to our area. All feed is provided and distributed for hunters by J. Michael’s.

As of 2024 all ranch roads and feeder locations have been re-cut for ease of access and better visibility.

Hunter’s Quarters

Our hunter’s quarters is a new addition to the ranch that offers 2,000 sq. ft. of indoor space including a full bathroom and kitchenette. Indoor/outdoor lights will need to be powered by a generator provided by the hunter. Camp-style grills, a fire pit, and space for tents are in front of the building while three spaces for campers are located behind it. Each camper space has hookups for water and sewer.

Local Game

Mule and white-tail deer are the most common game animals in the area, but J. Michael’s is fortunate to have a variety of wildlife call it home. Dove and quail can always be found across the ranch and we do add feed just for them in our feeders. If varmint hunting is your passion, then coyotes, grey foxes, and bobcats frequently pass through the area.
